Humpback whales are on the move...
The annual migration of the majestic humpback whales along the East Coast of Australia is well and truly in the swing of things.
Each year, thousands of whales escape the cold waters of Antarctica to Queensland's warm waters.
...and have arrived on the Fraser Coast
From late July to early November, Hervey Bay becomes the holiday destination for these amazing creatures and act as their natural playground.
World Heritage listed K'gari (formerly Fraser Island) acts as a natural barrier from the waves and open ocean of the east coast and creates a calm, save haven for the whales to frolic, play and feed their young calves.
Hervey Bay is one of the only places in the world where the humpback whales divert off their migration path and spend days a time in the one location.
Getting close enough to one of these creatures that you can almost touch it will truly take your breath away, and a tour from Hervey Bay is the only place where this happens on a regular occurance.
