We will start boarding our vessel for the day 15 minutes prior to departure at the Hervey Bay Marina. After a safety briefing, we’ll give you a rundown of the plan for the tour before departing for our adventure.
Our expert guides are the best in the business when it comes to whale sightings. So they’ll make a call based on the conditions and locations of the whales on when you will see them, and they’ll let you know when to get the camera out!
Each tour has two light meal services provided, you will enjoy morning or afternoon tea on your way out to see the whales, and then an antipasto style platter on the return cruise.
We have a team of experienced naturalist guides who are extremely knowledgeable about the whales who visit us in Hervey Bay. Many of our guides have been with us for years so even know information about individual whales!
Our tours are flexible so that you can get the best experience on the day, the whales determine what kind of show they’re going to put on and we love being their captive audience.
Hervey Bay is world-renowned as a place where whales stop and stay, using the calm, sheltered waters as a resting ground before continuing their migration. The beauty of this is that the whales are curious and interactive, often approaching our boat to spy hop, breach, tail slap, or roll playfully beneath us.
Keep your eyes peeled for mothers and their calves, a heartwarming sight as they bond, learn vital survival skills, and sometimes even mimic their mother’s spectacular breaches. Hervey Bay is an important resting spot for them to be able to continue on their massive journey.
All of our whale-watching tours have a Naturalist Guide on board to make your experience unforgettable. A Naturalist Guide is an expert in the natural world who provides educational insights about wildlife, ecosystems, and conservation.
Our guides will explain humpback whale behaviours, migration patterns, and the unique role Hervey Bay plays as a whale sanctuary. They will also point out other marine life along the way, discuss conservation efforts, and answer questions you might have throughout the day!
Our Whale Warrior Program, created in partnership with the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS), is an exciting and enriching addition to our Half-Day Whale Watch Encounters. Designed to inspire a passion for conservation in younger generations, the program features engaging videos and presentations from our expert guides—available free of charge to all guests.
For even more fun, kids can become Junior Whale Warriors by purchasing a special activity pack, with more than 50% of proceeds supporting AMCS conservation efforts. The pack includes an educational journal, a Junior Whale Warrior hat, a VIP wheelhouse visit for a photo with the captain, a marine mammal toy, and more.
